Position: : Communications Officer

Location: Viratnagar, Rajasthan or Delhi with a two week mandatory stay in Viratnagar, Rajasthan

Organization Profile: The Bal Ashram Trust was founded by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi and Mrs. Sumedha Kailash in 1998 as rehabilitation centre for children rescued from child labour, child trafficking and child slavery in Viratnagar, Rajasthan and is a part of the Satyarthi Movement.

Bal Ashram is committed to successful repatriation in society of all children in need of care and protection, enabling them to be successful citizens and agents of change through a multi-faceted rights based approach. The Trust, along with the rehabilitation centre runs holistic programs for child rights in over 200 villages in Rajasthan.

Position Overview:

The Communications Officer will assist in all external and internal communication as relevant to the ongoing programs of the Trust. She/ he will help in developing content, capturing best practices, preparing, revising, updating and managing existing content. The person has to collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop content, responsible for writing, editing and proof reading of reports, proposal writing. She/ he would also be assisting the program team with overall monitoring and evaluation. This position would require work along with external stakeholders as and when required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program content development, concept note and proposal writing
  • Writing, Editing and proof reading of reports and other documents
  • Creating write-ups that are in sync with the brand voice and tone guidelines
  • Develop and manage program MIS, analyse data/ information and follow up
  • Inter-departmental coordination with in the organization/Satyarthi movement as and when required
  • Coordinate with fund-raising team, developing new project proposals, concept notes and other documents for resource mobilisation on the concerned programmes and activities of projects
  • Work closely with the senior management to liaison with funders, through regular updates and reports
  • Support in setting up meetings (internal and external), registrations and due diligence processes, participation in conferences and meetings if required, and donor management with the function head

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitor the progress of the projects and keep the supervisor informed / updated
  • To develop strategic plans for various aspects of the organisation and its ongoing programmes and also support in their implementation
  • To work on progress indicators for all the programmes and projects for proper monitoring
  • High quality documentation of the impact outcomes.


  • Support in setting up meetings (internal and external), registrations and due diligence processes, participation in conferences and meetings if required, and support in donor management with the functional head
  • Help in organizing monthly / periodic meetings
  • Any other work assigned by the supervisor/organisation


Master’s in any relevant subject (Rural development/management, social work, MBA, Mass communication, or equivalent), with preference to University degree in any subject (mass communication/English would be preferred)


  • Minimum 3 years of adequate experience in communication and content creation
  • Experience of impact monitoring and evaluation for campaigns
  • Excellent representation, public speaking and presentation skills.

Skill & Competencies:

  • Committed to the cause of the organization, especially to child survivors and children in need of care and protection
  • Professional experience of working in a reputed NGO, foundation or business
  • In-depth understanding of issues related to child rights and youth rights, child labour eradication, education, and stop child slavery, trafficking
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English with a strong command over Hindi
  • Knowledge of graphic designing and online design tools such as Canva/ Adobe Spark etc. would be an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills and experience and comfort with data analysis
  • Technology savvy including use of social media
  • Strong compassion to engage positively with the children
  • Flexible mind set and multi-tasking
